Commander Kat'ya's Log: We
have arrived at Federation space station Deep Space 9. We have been
given information that a trader on the station has the location of
an ancient Klingon Colony. Myself, Toran and Ice beam aboard.

Scene
1.
Is the informant Quark? Highly prob - Yes
We materialise on the Promenade. There are mainly humans and
Bajorans walking about, though we do see a Cardassian running a
Tailors shop. We see the bar run by the Fenengi.
Entering the bar we approach the Fenengi who is conversation with a
Lurian barfly, though the Ferengi seems unable to get a word in.

I intervene, (to Morn) "Go away!" Command + Presence - Fail!
He doesn't shut up, or even register us, so I physically drag him
from the Bar! Security + Daring - Success.

Quark "Hey, he's one of my best customers."
Kat'ya "We have come for the location of the Klingon
colony."
The Ferengi is evasive as all his kind are. I have no time for his
prattling so draw my d'k tahg.
Intimidation - Command + Presence - success.
I toss the Ferengi his asking price in Gold Pressed Latinum and he
gives transfers the coordinates to my datapad.
A tall man, Bejoran Security chief, this may be the changing I have
heard of (Command + Reason - success).
Odo "Why are you brandishing your blade and assaulting
civilians?"
Kat'ya "I was negotiating with this Ferengi."
Odo "While I understand the desire to drawn a blade
against Quark, it is not permitted. I presume you have arrived on
the Battle Cruiser? Maybe you ought to accompany me to see the
station Commander."
Kat'ya "I have no business with him."
Odo "But he wishes to see you."
Scene 2. We are led to meet Commander Sisko who is apparently
upset we did not contact him on arrival.

Kat'ya "Are the Federation not our allies now?"
Commander Sisko "Yes, but when a Klingon Battle Cruiser is
sitting in orbit, people get nervous. The constable here tells me
you had business with Quark, threatened him and you assaulted a
civilian."
Kat'ya "My business with the Ferengi is concluded. I
merely moved the Lurian, there would be blood if I had assaulted
him."
Diplomacy - Command + Presence - Success.
Commander Sisko "In the interest of friendship I will
overlook these incidents. All I ask in future id that you let us
know when you arrive so we can make appropriate, accommodations."
Kat'ya "That is acceptable. Qapla' Commander."
Scene 3. The IKS Klothos sets course for the planet provided
by the Ferengi, it is however in disputed territory bordering the
Romulan Empire. Nevertheless, we proceed.
Do we encounter Romulan? 50/50 YES! Rolled a 1 - therefore it will
be a Warbird!
The Romulan Warbird de-cloaks in our path, the Captain orders us out
of Warp, wea arm Phasers and Photon Torpedoes!
Do the Romulans attack? Probable - Yes.

Round 1 - We Hit them with Momentum, +1 damage
Round 2 - Another Hit with Momentum.
We launch a full spread of Photon Torpedoes, the Romulan Phasers are
absorbed by our shields. The Warbird turns away and cloaks.
Captain K'klaa "Qapla'!!!"
Scene 4.
System •BE-855949-0114 - Grozhaam Dra'w
Science + Sensors - success.
We arrive in orbit of the planet Grozhaam Dra'w. Sensors indicate it
is a barran dry world, bu there are signs of an ancient
civilisation, possibly inhabitants. Uses the coordinates provided by
the Ferengi I lead an Away Mission the planet taking Toran and Ice
with me.
We fins ourself standing in ancient ruins. Science + Reason -
Success
These ruin may be a millennia old, but there are signs of life with
litter around the ruins. I think we are being watched.
Are we attacked? 50/50 - Yes.
A group of Primitives spring from the ruins and charge us. We defend
with Phasers.
they out number us be we hold our ground, eventually they retreat
leaving several of their dead behind.
Science + Reason - Success (just - but we had Momentum from the
fight)
They are not Klingon, but I would surmise they may be some
descendant from Klingon lineage. Their clothes are rags and their
weapons crude.
While they may have some interest, we came to find these ruins and
the secrets they may hold from our past.
Scene 5. Commanders Log - Having beamed down to the planets
surface we were attacked by primitives, possibly of ancient Klingon
decent. We know search the ruins to see what secrets they may hold.
Command + Insight - success.
Rolled on Abandoned Places - 3 Cave where species went extinct.
Was it a Weapon? Probable - Yes
Was there a war? Probable - Yes
Was it a civil war? Somewhat Probable - Yes
Is the Weapon still active? 50/50 - Yes
Have we Triggered it? YES! (rolled a 1)
We enter what appears to have been an ancient laboratory, the doors
were closes tight be we managed to force them open. Dust covers
everything, it is a large room. Are the Centre is a large spherical
object of unknown design, but as we approach it springs to life.
Toran scans the device.
Toran "I think we have just made a very bad mistake!"
Scene 6
Commander Kat'ya's Log: We have discovered, and accidentally
triggered an ancient planet destroying weapon. To flee would be
without honour, we must disarm it.
Five Romulan Soldier materialise, their phasers drawn!
Cmdr Tomlac "I am Commander Tomlac. Your vessel is
surrounded, as are you. Feel free to initiate a glorious death, it
is something I will gratefully provide."

Kat'ya "It will not be a glorious death for either of us.
This is a dirty weapon, and will kill everyone on the planet without
honour."
Presence + Command = Success
The Romulan Commander orders his men to examine the weapon, and they
concur it is a world destroyer.
Kat'ya "Will you be the coward and flee? Or will you help
me save this world?"
Cmdr Tomlac "The people of this world are not worth saving."
Kat'ya "Then go, coward!"
Presence + Command = Success with THREAT.
Cmdr Tomlac "Very well, but you alone."
I examine the weapon controls. There are two other control statins
that will need to be disabled. Cmdr Tomlac tries to Comm his ship
(THREAT spend) the weapon is blocking comms, meaning we cannot use
Transporters to get to the other sites. |
|
Scene 7
I am unable to locate the other sites from here.
Kat'ya "We have no choice, we must speak to the natives."
Only Cmdr Tomlac and Kat'ya leave to find the other sites and the
locals. I find the location of the attack when we arrived.
Insight + Command = Success
Commander Kat'ya's Log: Along with the Romulan Commander we track a
group of locals to a nearby shelter in an old building. Attack is
inevitable.
We manage to sneak in before making our presence known.
Presence + Command = Success
Kat'ya "we will not harm you unless you force us. We are
here to help. Your planet is in peril, and if we do not act quickly
everyone will die"
Monbi "I am Monbi, I speak for my people. Tell your story."
Monbi stands 5'3", weighs 130 lbs and is 30 years
old. He has pale olive skin, a pronounced forehead ridge, a high
hairline with close cropped chestnut hair, a short beard and
almond-shaped blue eyes.
Attributes: Control 9, Daring 10, Fitness 9, Insight 8, Presence 11,
Reason 8
Disciplines: Command 3, Conn 1, Engineering 1, Security 4, Science
2, Medical 2
Presence + Command = Success
I tell Monbi who we are and the danger their world is in. Monbi
offers to help, if we agree to bring help to improve life on this
world.
Commander Tomlac says he will take the matter to the Romulan Council.
I disagree and say it is a Klingon matter. After minutes of
disagreement Mondi says he will help, but this will be neutral
ground for Romulan and Klingon. Neither of us is in a position of
argue further and both agree.
Scene 8
Monbi says he knows the machine we discovered and had banned his
people from it, the other locations are not close, one is 5 miles
away, the other at least 20 mile past that.
We must walk to the first location. Monbi with three of his
followers lead us from the outskirts of the city into the desert.
The desert heat is hot, the air is dry. Fitness + Security = Success
Are there dangers in the desert? Highly Probably - YES (another 1)
Is the danger a creature? Somewhat probable - Yes
Dra'w Winged-Vipers
These snake-like creature burrow in the deserts sands, but also have
wings. Their golden colour makes then difficult to spot in the
desert sands or even when flying in daylight. The attack in groups
of 5-9.
A small group of Dra'w Winged-Vipers descend from the sky snapping
at us with the venomous fanged teeth. Monbi and his men swat at them
with staffs, Tomlac and myself use our phasers.
Dra'w Winged-Vipers - Health 6 - 5 3 1 0
We successfully fend off the creatures and are led into a small
building that is still relatively intact.
Scene 9
We find a small ancillary Control Room. Below is an energy reserve,
still functioning.
Are the Computers working? Yes.
Kat'ya accessed the computers to bring up the weapon controls.
Reason + Science = Success with Momentum (first time today)
Commander Kat'ya's Log: the computers reveal there are two main
generators that when the reach detonation limit both let out a
planet wide pulse that destroys nearly everything. This here is a
backup generator that is linked to both the other generators. With
this shut down we can shut down the other generators. We really have
no idea how much time we have.
Scene 10
The computers won't shut down the generator, it has to be done
manually. I open the hatch to the generator and climb down
Fitness + Security = Success with Momentum
I find the generator control panel. It is just a lever. But a lever
rusted in place for decades.
Fitness + Security = FAIL! I spend Momentum to re-roll a die =
Success (rolled a 1 on the re-roll!)
The level pulls and the generator is shut down.
Commander Tomlacs commlink comes on. His ship have got a signal
through, still no transporter though. They have detected an energy
build up. We don't have long, and we have to get to both Weapon
sites, 20 miles apart.
Monbi speaks up and leads up to a small garage.
Monbi "I knew this was here. Vehicles, if you can make
them work."
Scene 11. We find a wheeled vehicle in disrepair and try to
get it working. Insight + Engineering. Success but with Threat! The
vehicle will only have enough fuel to go to one location.
I reason that if we can shut down the reactor that is causing the
interference we can use the Transporters.
Reason + Science. Rolled a 1 & 20. So Success with Momentum +
Threat!. Cmdr Tomlac agrees but only to contact the Romulan vessels,
not the Klingon. As I am in no position to argue I agree.
Scene 12. Is our journey uneventful? Somewhat Improbable -
but yes it is!
We reach the next silo and climb down to the generator.
Another stiff lever. Fitness + Security - Success!
With the generator powered down Cmdr Tomlac contacts his ship and
has us transported to the third and final site.
Scene 13. This site is different and the is computer control,
but the controls do not respond, we need to repair them before we
can shut down the generator. Extended Test - 5 success needed in 3
turns!
Reason + Engineering - 2, 1 (spending momentum to re-roll), 2. The
generator is shut down.
I turn around and are faced with Cmdr Tomlac and a sqaud of Romulan
soldiers!
Scene 14. Will Cmdr Tomlac renege on the deal? Highly Probable -
Yes.
Cmdr Tomlac "Business is business. Politics is politics."
Kat'ya "And Glory is Glory!"
Daring + Security

Combat is vicious as I pull my Phaser, dodging an shooting. The
Romulans take cover. I drop two but get hit, I'm bleeding, and have
dropped by Phaser. "Maybe today is a good day to die!" I draw
my Tahg Dagger and lunge forward. I cut down the soldiers, Tomlac
turns to shoot but I bury my dagger in his chest. Push me and you
will see my ugly side (value).
Monbi is somewhat in shock.
Scene 15. The IKS Klothos decloaks and opens fire with a
volley of Photon torpedoes on the three Romulan Warbirds!
The Fast-targeting systems of
the Klingon warship give them the edge in combat. One, two and
eventually all three Romulan Warbirds take severe damage and are
forced to withdrawn.

Commander Kat'ya's Log:
Captain Klaa commends my actions on the planet. Despite our deal
with Monbi this world will still be one open for contest. We do
contact the Klingon Council and arrange for supplies to be shipped
to the planet. A Klingon's word is their oath. |
