As the Republic grows and explores more of the galaxy the more
need they have for bigger and better star cruisers. The
Tallon Yards Republic Cruiser IV is the latest model to come from
the shipyards of Tallon in the Expanse region near the neighboring
the Tapani Sector. As it proclaims, this is the IV version
of this acclaimed starship design. With each production the
technology advances. Gone now completely are the stasis
chambers found in the earlier models, and in is fitted the latest
in hyperdrive technology. This is one of the fastest ships
ever built.
The Republic Cruiser IV is a mere 750 million credits. A
meager sum for such a technological breakthrough, or so the Tallon
designers claim. The cost is kept down due to the shipyards
being subsidised by several Houses of Tapani, most notably House
Pelagia.
Although expedition is high on the Republic agenda the Senate
have had trouble keeping the News-Net quiet about the full
abilities of this ship. The Republic Cruiser IV is indeed
heavily armed and use as a warship was obviously on the minds of
it's designers and the Senate when they contracted this
vessel.
The Silver Sabre
The first Republic Cruiser IV, the Silver Sabre, was given by
the Republic to the Jedi Council. Master Arca Jeth was even
present at the launch of this magnificent vessel. After
several successful peaceful missions the full fighting ability of
the Silver Sabre was tested high above the lost Sith World of
Xanos. Confronted by two Sith Battle-Frigates commanded by
the Sith Master, the Mandarin, the Silver Sabre could only buy
time for the Jedi on the surface of the planet to succeed in their
mission. Escaping the Sith tomb on the planets surface the
Jedi Warriors could only watch helplessly as the Silver Sabre, in
a ball of fire, arced through the atmosphere of Xanos before
hitting the oceans of the planet. The Jedi cruiser sank
quickly. Its wreckage remains undisturbed, the resting place
of many Jedi in this unfortunate encounter with the Dark Side. |
