Tang Rock
Tang Rock, despite being a major exporter of Repulsorlift technology throughout the Blood Drift does not show up on many space charts. In fact, unless you specifically buy the systems co-ordinates then most Navigation computers will not show the planet. Why is not known. The authorities trade with the world, and make no secret of it's existence. Tang Rock is a medium sized world covered with tropical jungles and winding rivers. Like any tropics, when the rain falls it is usually a torrential downpour, while at other times the temperatures can become uncomfortable for humans. Across the planet large rock plateau's can be seen rising out of the jungles. The native Aurrorro-Tang have long ago used these platforms to make their home. Now great cities can be found atop these plateau's. Another noticeable feature of Tang Rock is the abundance of floating houses. Repulsor mansions and area's dominate the Tang Rock sky near any Aurrorro-Tang city. The Jungles of Tang-Rock can be perilous. Many predators, some large and ferocious, others small, unnoticeable and venomous, dominate the jungle. The Aurrorro-Tang themselves rarely travel in the jungles. There are dotted across the planet small ancient monuments built by the primitive Aurrorro-Tang. Scientists and explorers will often go on expeditions to investigate these ancient sites. Orro's City Orro's City is the largest of the Aurrorro-Tang spaceports. It is a standard class spaceport but traffic is infrequent except for the cargo vessels shipping goods from Aurrorro Industries or other smaller Repulsorlift manufacturers. As you approach the city ships are met by a repulsor platform high above the city. Once landed the disc shaped platform floats gently down to the spaceport docking area. Some visitors feel slightly uncomfortable with this automated landing. The Aurrorro-Tang see it as partly a safer way of landing starships, and mostly a cool way of using repulsor technology. The City itself despite being modern in it materials and construction has roots in Aurrorro-Tang history with high stone effect archways dominating the architecture. Throughout the city good use is made of the repulsor technology from repulsor walkways, lifts everywhere, force-fields and most notably repulsor vehilces.
Aurrorro-Tang
Appearance An Aurrorro-Tangs face is very ape-like. They will usually have gray or black skin and have long hair. Capsule Aurrorro-Tang are ape-like descendants, much like humans. They have great agility which is reflected in their sports and interests. The game Phase! being a good example of this. Despite their love of technology and normal outgoing personality the Aurrorro-Tang rarely travel beyond their own star system. To encounter an Aurrorro-Tang off Tang Rock, and especially out of the Blood Drift is rare but not unheard of. The most renown Aurrorro-Tang being the Jedi Knight Gravin. Aurrorr-Tang love gadgets and technology, and especially repulsorlifts. If given the choice of eating or going hover-boarding they would probably die of starvation. Their sports are all of extremes mostly using some form of dexterity. Aurrorro-Tang will often go hunting in the jungles of Tang Rock. However, they are not a bloodthirsty race are will use stun weapons, releasing their prey afterwards. Of all their games though the most popular by far is Phase! Played in giant area's that bring in spectator crowds of over 20,000 a time Phase! players are the celebrities of Tang Rock. Skill Bonus Aurrorro-Tang gain +2D to all climbing checks.
Phase! Of all the Phase! arena the floating 'Sky Dome' above Orro's City is by far the largest. Capable of seating 40,000 spectators it rarely pulls in crowds of less than 20,000 for even small games. The Game The arena has thirteen repulsor-discs. One in the center, then four, then eight. Each disc tips and rotates at varying speeds making balance difficult. The inner discs are more difficult to balance on, while the center disc requires a great deal of skill. Two contestants are then armed with Stun Blasters, set low enough so as not to actually stun their opponent. The object is to hit you opponent, not kill him (although rumours persist that underworld games use blasters set to kill). The aim of the game is to shoot you opponent while not falling off the disc. The discs don't remain solid for long though. A disc will Phase! after five seconds, meaning the contestants have to constantly jump from one disc to another or fall, giving away points. The points scored depend on where you were when you shoot. Phase! arena Order of actions 1. Movement. Each contestant jumps to a new disc. Jumping difficulty: 10 (if character had Jumping >4D ignore this roll) If two contestants try to jump to the same disc roll opposed Jumping to determine who jumps first. The loser must jump elsewhere. Both contestants can not be on the same disc. 2. Phase! Up to three discs will Phase! causing anyone standing on them to fall (safely caught by a repulsor-bet) giving their opponents points. The discs that phase are the one's that the contestants were previously standing on (hence movement each round), as well as a disc at random (roll 1D12). The center disc will not randomly phase but will phase the round after a contestant was standing there. 3. Balance Roll Dexterity, Balance or Acrobatics. The difficulty depends on the disc you have jumped onto. Outer discs (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are difficulty: 5 Inner discs (9,10,11,12) are difficulty: 10 Center Disc is difficulty: 15 If any contestant falls their opponent gains points equal to the value of the disc they fell off. The game is then restarted. 4. Declare actions. Blaster, dodge, blaster & dodge. The Dexterity check is counted as an action for counting multiple action penalties here. So if a contestant shoots and dodges that's three actions, skill -2D. 5. Roll actions. Damage is ignored as the power level of the stun guns is set so low, however, hitting an opponent stops their shot. By scoring a hit you gain points dependant on the disc you are standing on. Outer discs (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are worth 1 point. Inner discs (9,10,11,12) are worth 3 points. The center disc is worth 5 points.
The winner is the first contestant to reach 20 points via a hit or a Phase! If an opponent unbalances and falls then the final points are not scored. Only a blaster shot or a Phase! can award victory.
Rules Contestants can not jump onto the same disc. The contestant that does this is disqualified. Only the Phase! stun gun can be used in the contest. Points are awarded if a contestant shoots his opponent or they fall from the disc via losing balance or Phase!
Scoring Shooting opponent - awarded disc score Opponent falls - awarded their disc score
