Men of Steel
Holmes & Laylah are draw to Earth in the year 1927 by a time
anomoly.
Episode One
1. The TARDIS lands in the
back yard of a small terrace house. fortunately the occupants are
away.
Laylah "Is it interesting?"
Holmes "Oh very. But not why we are here."
Laylah "Why are we here?"
Holmes "I detected a time rift."
Laylah "Are they that advanced."
Holmes "They haven't split the atom yet. And that doesn't
go well."
Homes and Laylah, his Tharil companion, walk through the streets of
the small mining town of Brierley Hill.
Do they find the disturbance (using a gimmick) db 12
(science + ingenuity) Yes.
Holmes and Laylah find they are led to Steven Park.
Is it guarded - yes.
By Police (highly probable) yes,
and Army (somewhat probable) YES.
2. Holms suggests trying to sneak past the guards.
Do we have to climb a
fence? (Probable) Yes.
dc 12
(coordination + Athletics)
Laylah with her feline instincts jumps the fence but Holmes
struggles.
Does this alert guards? (50/50) Yes.
Holmes hands Laylah the scanner and they both hide, with Laylah
being within the Park.
Laylah hides dn 12 (coord + sub) manages to hide.
Is Holmes spotted? No, he too hides from the guards.
3. Laylah sneaks closer.
Is it an alien pod? (probable) Yes
Do I recognise it? (Tech/Know + Intelligence) dc 14 - YES! It's
CYBERMAN tech.
Is there a Cyberman here? (somewhat Improbable) No.
Is the Scholar here? 50/50 Yes
Is the Survivor here? 50/50 No
Laylah sneaks back out and meets up with Holmes
4. Holmes is concerned
Holmes "Cybermen on Earth at this time, they could destroy
everything. And disrupt the time lines."
Laylah "Their capsule must have fallen through the time
rift."
Holmes "But if they were not there, where are they? I
think we should introduce ourselves."
Holmes walks up to one of the policemen.
Policeman "Sorry sir, the Park is closed. Police
incident."
Holmes "I can see that. I am here to help. I need to speak
to whoever is in charge of the military here."

 Holmes
is taken to meet Captain Wainwright.
Captain Wainwright "Now sir, how can you help us?"
Holmes "My name is Holmes, this is Laylah. I know what was
in the pod. If I don't stop it this entire world will perish."
Captain Wainwright studies Holmes and Laylah "So, more
monsters. I met a man called Holmes once before, looked somewhat
different, but manner was similar."
Holmes "Ah. Well... maybe I do meet you again. I always
gets things out of order."
Captain Wainwright "Well you cannot be the same man, and
how could you meet me in the past?"
Holmes "The universe is a wondrous thing, but I don't have
time to explain it all right now, I have the planet Earth to save.
Will you help me?"
dn (Presence + convince) DC 10 (because Captain
Wainwright has met a future Holmes before) Yes.
5. Captain Wainwright orders a truck.
Captain Wainwright
"The pod was empty when we got here. But Viscount Ednam was spotted.
I think we should pay him a visit, ah... and this here is Mr. Franz
Goldstein, he has been assisting Torch... me."
Franz "Mr. Holmes, what if I were to say I believe the pod
was extra terrestrial?"
Holmes "I would say you were phishing for information."
Captain Wainwright , Franz, Holmes and Laylah travel to the Round
Oak Steekworks where Viscount Ednam is in charge. On arrival Franz
excuses himself and leaves. Holmes tells Laylah to follow him.
Pleasantries are exchanged.
Holmes "Now, the pod. Have you ever heard of Cybermen?"
Does Viscount Ednam know about Cybermen? 50/50 No.
Holmes "Then what was removed from the pod?"
Does the Viscount lie? (highly prob) Yes
Viscount Ednam "I'm sorry there was nothing in the pod."
Is Franz working with the cybermen? (Probable) No.
Does he know about them? (Probable) Yes
Is he looking for them? (Highly Prob) Yes
Does he spot Laylah following him? 50/50 Yes
Does he conform here? 50/50 No.
Does he find the Cybermen (Probable) Yes
Are the Cybermen active? (Probable) No
Laylah watches as Franz discovers the Cymbermen.
Cybermats are scurrying around, they appear to have infected several
of the steelwork workers, who are being transformed into Cybermen!
Do the Cybermats spot Franz & Laylah (Highly Prob) Yes.
Suddenly several Cybermat turn from their duties and close in on
Franz and Laylah!

EPISODE TWO
6. Holmes and Captain Wainwright arrive at the factory just in time,
Captain Wainwright shoots the cybermats with military accuracy.
Holmes helps the partial Cybermen, turning off the power, but all
but one is dead. There is a single survivor, William, a young steel
worker. Despite not being trained in Medicine Holmes (rolls 14) is
able to stabilise William.
William says there are more in the East Foundry.
Holmes "Ah, they cannot be allowed to continue this
barbarity. Laylah, take William here back to the Viscounts office."
Captain Wainwright "Franz, you go too. And what about us,
Holmes"
Holmes "We need to go stop the Cybermen."
Captain Wainwright "Oh, is that all."
7. Holmes and Captain Wainwright Sneak into the East foundry
unnoticed (rolled 16)
There are a dozen chambers making Cybermen from the workers.
Captain Wainwright "Good Lord, this is barbaric. What are
they doing to those men?"
Holmes "Turning them into more Cybermen. They can't possibly
expect to gain a foot hold with a couple of dozen Cybermen?"
Are they building a transmitter? No.
Are they building a spaceship? Yes
8. Holmes and Captain Wainwright follow the Cybermen tech to a
nearby warehouse. They find several Cybermen Building a Spaceship!
Holmes thinks he can sabotage it so tries to get closer - DC 16 -
fails. Holmes is spotted by Cybermen.
Cyberman "Halt. You are a prisoner of the Cy-ber-men."
Holmes "Oh, am I?"
Cyberman "You will be like us."
Holmes "Ah, well, no thank you, but very kind of you to
offer. If you would just like to return all the humans and leave
planet Earth that would be jolly virtuous of you."
The Cyberman advances.
Holmes "When I say run, run. RUN!"
9. In the office of Viscount Ednam, Laylah makes William
comfortable.
Franz grills him on the Cyberman technology, but William remember
very little.

Franz a spy? Yes
Franz excuses himself and leaves.
Laylah is curious and follows him.
Sneak DC 12 - success.
Franz heads to the East
Foundry. Where he is confronted by the Cybermen. He offers them a
deal.
10. Back at the Viscounts office Holmes and Captain Wainwright
return.
Captain Wainwright gets on the phone at once to call in military
support.
Viscount Ednam "That Franz guy said he had business and your
odd lady friend followed."
Holmes "Who exactly is Franz?"
Does Wainwright suspect Franz? Yes
Captain Wainwright "We've had some suspicions. We think he is
working for a foreign power. We brought him on board to try and
bring him into the open."
Holmes exits the room quickly with concern for Laylah.
Back at the Foundry Laylah secretly watches as Franz tries to make a
deal with the Cybermen.
Franz "I have powerful friends around the world. My
organisation has infiltrated every government in the world. We can
work together to rule the world!"
Do the Cybermen make a deal with Franz? 50/50 - NO!
Cyberman "The Cy-ber-men do not require your cooperation. You
will be like us."
With that another Cyberman grabs Franz painfully by the shoulder and
drags him towards the cyber conversion booth!
